ZombieRolla

Man. Been working hard on the corolla. Where to start... I got my buddy to put the timing belt on and it started right up, but we found I needed a new dizzy. Went to south carolina and met a fellow corolla guy with a fresh sr5gts on longchamps (inspiration!!!) and got back to put it on. Runs perfect!!

The next 2 days were spent changing the oil, spark plugs, took the entire interior out and cleaned it up, etc. I finally started to inspect the rust areas more and found some disturbing shit. I'm really depressed about it now, and don't know if I want to go on with this car. I know thats a pussy thing to do, but I don't know if I have the knowledge and skills to fix all this rust. Maybe its time to search for a new corolla... :(

I don't know what to do yet. Anyways, here are a few pics

The interior is pretty damn clean compared to most eight sixes....

look at that zombie rust!!!! F&CK!!!

Heltah Skeltah

God, this is the dopest song I've heard in a long time. No other words necessary, just listen

Ease the mind

So my roommate turns to me today and says, dude lets listen to this band my ex has been talking about and if it sucks, we can make fun of her.  Thinking it was going to be something of the likes of Taylor Swift, I was blown away when this came on. Needless to say, we didn't make fun of her.

Nothing new

I finally have all the stuff I need to do the timing belt on the corolla except for the damn tensioner spring. So if I can't get it fixed before thanksgiving break, the rents will trailer it home where I can have all week and a good location to work on it. I'm getting sick of seeing it sit there though. The attachment is slowly slipping away. It might as well be rotting at a scrap yard, as nothing is being done about its condition. I may try to fix some of the rust this week. Or prep the areas and order rust bullet. We'll see. Funds are low, and nobody has inquired about my SSR's yet...

Ugh. Such is the life of an automobile enthusiast.

Inspiration

I don't know if anybody has heard of Scott Hansen but he's one of my favorite musicians and artists. He has an awesome blog that showcases some fine design and music. The style in which he mixes his music and design is amazing.  It all flows together and is simply inspiring.  You can check it out here:

And through his blog I found out about this song, and this badass remix. Scottish club jazzy electro, circa 1997.   There are so many good artists to be found on there so check it out. In the meantime, relax to these awesome songs.

This week has been awesome.

I feel like I've finally come out of the pit I was digging for myself. I feel so good today. Its a complicated combination of factors but I feel like I've transcended and become a better person because of it.  Oh and everyone go check out Yuta's s30z article on Speedhunters, it just re-inspired me haha. That car is amazing and I really respect the way he gets things done. Do work!!!

This song definitely fits my mood right now.

Everything Remains Raw...

I'm starting a blackbook to learn different styles of graffiti fonts and shit. I'm gonna try to use it everyday so I'll start posting up pix from that.  No progress on the 86. I sat in it today and started to get sad. First, because its not running. Second, because everything I go look at it, its less and less clean to me. Its a piece of shit rust bucket, and I would be better off with a 10 years newer car such as a 240. But I will not give up yet.  Rust can be fixed. I'll probably get to drive it 1 out of 30 days lol.

Either way, just remember, everything remains raw.... :D

Drawings

Man, this was a hella rough weekend. I only had a week to prepare a 10 piece portfolio for design and realized that I need to have more than just photography. I haven't drawn anything in YEARS so I was freaking out. All in all, I got 4 drawings done and 6 photos in the portfolio. I definitely enjoyed starting to draw again though and will continue to draw/illustrate stuff.

On another note, I got the corolla running again, put the starter in and did the timing myself! haha. I'm stoked to finally get a car that I can learn to work on.  I need to get a timing belt though and put new timing cover seal/gaskets on before I drive it. Then, RUST ATTACK COMMENCE!!!!!

Anyways, here's a few from the portfolio:
